A lifelong feminist and advocate for women's rights, Marianne Lieberman is credited with founding the first NARAL Pro-Choice North Carolina chapter (now Pro-Choice North Carolina) in 1977.
Wife, mother, author, and artist, each of her artworks is an outpouring of emotions. This etching, "Last Illegal Abortion" (1974), depicts Lieberman's experience with an illegal abortion after emigrating from Austria to New York in 1947.
The use of this moving art piece was granted to Pro-Choice North Carolina by Lieberman's daughter, Miriam Lieberman, in 2023.
